Creamy, delicious and healthy hot chocolate.

Who doesn't dream of a wonderful hot chocolate? Close your eyes and imagine a warm creamy texture to be enjoyed slowly, a delicious taste of freshly made chocolate and an aroma that is good for the soul.

It is a constant challenge for me to provide my children with delicious snacks that look like the ones on TV and in other children's lunch boxes, which the kids love, but in a healthy version. It's important that they like what they eat and it's crucial for us that the food be healthy and nutritious.

Dates are a great help because when it comes to sweetness, they are unbeatable. Here at home they are used in everything: cakes, smoothies, granola*... and hot chocolate.

This hot chocolate is a hit with the kids, it's a party when I call out "kids, hot chocolate!"

Recipe:

  • 1 cup of dates - Medjool dates are the best, but for these things it's not mandatory. I often use Tunisian dates, which I buy already chopped. They are less expensive, and the important thing is that they be good quality and I recommend organic.

  • 4 cups of dairy-free drink - I suggest oatmeal or hazelnut, but you can use any you like.

  • 3 tablespoons of raw cacao - try it and see if you like it that way, if you prefer it bitter you can add more cacao.

Combine all the ingredients in a pan and boil for a few minutes, occasionally stirring. Then blend well with a hand blender until you get a creamy texture. Pay attention to the small pieces of dates that sometimes remain at the bottom.

If you have a Thermomix, put everything together in the bowl, at 100°C, for 5 or 6 minutes. Then mix on speed 8 until uniform and creamy.
